Ridgewood Choral Welcomes New Members at First Rehearsals

Posted: Thursday, January 08, 2015

The Ridgewood Choral, the premier women's chorus of northern New Jersey, welcomes sopranos and altos to the first rehearsals of its 87th singing season.

Auditions for voice placements will take place at the Friday morning rehearsals on January 9, 16 and 23, at 9:30 a.m. at the Unitarian Society of Ridgewood, 113 Cottage Place, Ridgewood, NJ.

Under the musical direction of Marjorie Vandervoort, the Choral performs an annual Spring Concert (April 17, 2015) with a diverse musical program, this year featuring choral works from on and off the stage: cantatas, operas, operettas, Broadway, movies and the like. A unique aspect of the chorus is its tradition of social service and music education that includes a yearly music award for a high school student ($2500), musically-themed trips and tours, and community outreach entertainment for seniors, veterans, libraries and non-profit organizations.

Singing since 1928, The Ridgewood Choral is part of the rich musical culture of the area and members are drawn from Bergen, Passaic and Rockland counties. For more information, call Becky at 201-784-7686 or visit www.ridgewoodchoral.org.
