Winter Weather Advisory

Please find the following NWS Winter Weather Advisory as distributed by the Bergen County Office of Emergency Management - tonight through Tuesday evening, current track projects 3-6" of snow.


URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE NEW YORK NY

WINTRY WEATHER EXPECTED TONIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY

LOW PRESSURE DEVELOPING ALONG THE DELMARVA COAST THIS EVENING WILL TRACK NORTHEAST TONIGHT...PASSING JUST SOUTH OF LONG ISLAND
ON TUESDAY. THIS WILL BRING MAINLY SNOW ACROSS THE AREA TONIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY AFTERNOON.

...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 7 PM THIS EVENING TO
6 PM EST TUESDAY...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN UPTON HAS ISSUED A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 7 PM THIS EVENING TO 6 PM EST TUESDAY.

SNOW WILL DEVELOP ACROSS THE REGION THIS EVENING AND CONTINUE INTO EARLY TUESDAY MORNING AS LOW PRESSURE TRACKS SOUTHEAST OF THE
REGION. A BRIEF LULL IN PRECIP MAY OCCUR TUESDAY MORNING...BUT THEN ADDITIONAL BANDS OF LIGHT SNOW ARE LIKELY LATER TUES MORNING
INTO TUESDAY AFTERNOON.

BETWEEN 3 AND 6 INCHES OF SNOW IS EXPECTED BY THE TIME THE ACCUMULATING SNOW END LATE TUESDAY. THERE IS STILL SOME
UNCERTAINTY ON THE EXACT TRACK OF LOW PRESSURE...WHICH WILL DETERMINE IF THE HIGHER OR LOWER END OF THE RANGE IS REALIZED. A
FURTHER NORTHWEST TRACK WOULD RESULT IN THE HIGHER AMOUNTS...WHILE A FURTHER SOUTHEAST TRACK WOULD RESULT IN THE LOWER AMOUNTS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY MEANS THAT PERIODS OF SNOW...SLEET...OR FREEZING RAIN WILL CAUSE TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR SLIPPERY ROADS AND LIMITED VISIBILITIES...AND USE CAUTION WHILE DRIVING.
